However, this next review isn’t a new find; it’s an all-time favorite. We’re talking about the best Vietnamese-style street food in Phuket (and possibly, Thailand). It’s not your standard restaurant experience; it’s better.
The restaurant is a classic blend of authentic, quirky, and delicious. Read on for more.
Welcome to Viet-Van
Viet-Van is located in the North of Rawai, close to Chalong. The full address is 59/37 Soi Saiyuan 7, Rawai, Amphoe Mueang Phuket, Phuket 83130 (Google Maps Link Here).
Soi Saiyan 7 is a lively road with plenty of gyms, shops, restaurants, and massage parlors – as with many streets in Phuket, there’s parking for mopeds but no designated car parking.
The restaurant is open daily from 12:00-15:00 and then 17:00-21:00, except Tuesdays when they close.
Why We Love Viet-Van
The Viet-Van ‘kitchen’ is, in fact, a Volkswagen Camper van that’s been converted to a trendy and colorful food truck. However, instead of roaming the streets, they’re permanently set up on some land with an outdoor seating area.
Viet-Van encapsulates the authenticity of street food and the service quality of a restaurant perfectly. If you’ve been lucky enough to visit Vietnam, you’ll recognize the dining style – they have the typical small, colorful tables and chairs.
The restaurant is fun, trendy, and well-managed, providing delicious Vietnamese dishes. Additionally, it’s suitable for families, couples, and takeaway meals. Both tourists and locals enjoy visiting Viet-Van – that speaks volumes about the quality of the food and service!
Drinking and Dining at Viet-Van
The Viet-Van menu is significantly smaller than many Phuket restaurants, but each dish provided is cooked to perfection. They provide all the classic Vietnamese favorites like Pho and Bahn Mi, along with other traditional food and side dishes.
They’ve got a small bar serving alcohol, soft drinks, and coffee. If you know anything about Vietnamese culture, you’ll know about their love of coffee – Viet-Van does not disappoint, they have traditional Vietnamese-style drip blends.
We enjoyed the following:
- Pho Ga (140 baht)
- Viet-Van Nachos (90 baht)
- Cha Goi Banchoc (120 baht)
Each dish was fresh, delicious, and had brilliant value for money. Again in true Vietnamese style, the portions are enormous! Your plate will be stacked with meats, fresh salad leaves, and various sauces. This is undoubtedly one of the best places for crisp, fresh, and healthy veg.
Keeping Up to Date With Viet-Van
