Phuket, while small, has a plethora of activities. Ironically, Phuket is the largest island in Thailand. You need to know where you want to be and what you want to do before settling on a resort. In Phuket, some areas are best enjoyed by nightlife lovers, just as there are serene, quiet areas suitable for visual tourists.

Where in Phuket is ideal for a family retreat? Patong, for example, is the island’s hub for sex workers. Touring families aren’t very comfortable taking their kids to a resort brimming with scantily clad women and recreational drugs. In this article, we’ll outline the best spots in Phuket for the entire family 

Kata Beach

Kata Beach is popularly known as the best spot for families, especially families with children. Kata houses a famous white-sand beach right down from Karon. The area is lined with shops and eateries that give tourists a wide range of snacking options. 

Swimmers won’t find the beach enjoyable because of the sharp coral that lies in the water. Surfers who visit from May to October have a soft spot for the serene Kata beach. However, in the monsoon, the water becomes tougher and is less suited for beachside fun. 

When heading to Kata, we recommend two beautiful resorts:

• The Kata Palm Resort: It offers central accommodation with awesome family facilities like playgrounds, playrooms, and restaurants. 
• The Katathani Phuket Beach Resort: The Katathani Phuket Beach Resort is an excellent location for the whole family. Kalim is a quiet area perfect for strolling with pets and loved ones. Since the spot is brimming with local restaurants, a nice activity would be to treat your palate to indigenous dishes.

Kamala Beach

Kamala Beach is a quiet beach situated north of Patong. The area receives a steady influx of retirees on vacation due to its serene nature. Eateries line the beach and display big toys outside for children to stay engaged. Toddlers and infants often find the experience at Kamala Beach thrilling. The beach is quiet at night, but the tides are often harsh from May to November. There aren’t any public toilets at Kamala Beach. However, they offer mats and umbrellas for hire if you are down to set up a picnic. 

While at Kamala Beach, here are two places to visit:

• Sunwing Kamala: Sunwing Kamala is an absolute dream for the little ones. The resort epitomizes the family vacation. They offer a children’s activity called Lollo and Bernie. Here, kids watch movies, play enriching games, and participate in group fun.
• Sunprime Kamala Beach Resort: Here is a more mature resort for adult children and older family members. Sunprime Kamala Beach Resort features pretty sunsets, a mountainous landscape, and a tropical beach. The hotel is ideal for tourists seeking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. 

Rawai

Rawai beach sits at the southeastern end of Phuket, Thailand. Rawai is dotted with long-tailed boats, assorted seafood, and the Sea Gypsies Fish Market. You don’t even have to book a reservation for these boats; simply show up and say where you want to go!

Rawai beach is a colorful coral beach that, ironically, is not so great to swim in. Don’t fret. Yanui beach is a nearby swimmable alternative. Rawai offers an inclusive palate with indigenous, international, and vegan cuisine.
