Read on for a look at our new favorite beach-side restaurant, Macaw.
Welcome to Macaw
Macaw Cafe and Bar is located at Rawai beach, on the way to Promthep Cape. Macaw’s street address is หมู่ที่ 6 57/62 Rawai, Mueang Phuket District, Phuket 83130, and there is a Google Maps link here.
The beachside location makes it the perfect place to stop for some food or drinks to escape the mid-day heat or after a fun-filled day at one of the nearby islands.
Macaw is open daily from 08:100-22:00 and extends the closing time until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
Why We Love Macaw
Macaw comes across as a professionally run venue; it’s clean, tidy, well managed, there are extensive international menus, and there’s always chill music and lighting.
This venue caters to every need. They’ve created a cozy atmosphere and offer various seating options. You can choose to enjoy the view and the sun outside on sofas with cushions, sit at the bar for drinks, or dine at a table.
As Westerners, we felt totally at home in Macaw; although the customers are a mix of Thai and international, the venue felt set up for tourists and expats. The menus were in perfect English, and communicating with the staff was effortless.
Drinking and Dining at Macaw
Macaw has an extensive menu with healthy breakfast foods, smoothies, and hearty dinners. There are build-your-own options for most dishes, and you can make substitutions wherever you wish.
The food is delicious, reliable, and reasonably priced. We were delighted with our:
- Salmon steak with veggies (360 baht)
- Brownie with vanilla ice cream (185 baht)
- Blackberry Burro (250 baht)
Moving onto the drinks – Macaw has possibly the widest selection of non-alcoholic beverages we’ve ever seen. Say hello to health kick smoothies, juices, teas and coffees, sodas, and virgin cocktails. If you prefer an alcoholic beverage, you can enjoy all the classic drinks, spirits, and signature cocktails.
Remote Working at Macaw
During the day, Macaw can be a nice place to sit and work. As you’d expect, there is free WiFi, functioning AC, and plug sockets dotted around.
If you’re planning to work at Macaw, it’s best to go early to find a great spot, as it can get busy during the day.
Nightlife and Events at Macaw
Macaw is the perfect place for civilized evening fun. They have a happy hour from 4-7pm and live music starts at 7pm.
Many people start with dinner and stick around for music and drinks afterward. In the evenings, you’ll find groups of friends, singles, couples, tourists, and work meet-ups at Macaw.
Keeping Up to Date With Macaw
Macaw has a prominent social media presence and an excellent website, on which you can browse their menu, updates, promotions, and place orders online.
You can also find them on Instagram (@macawphuket) and Facebook (Macaw Cafe & Restaurant).
